Simmon Martinez
Simmon Martinez, 72, of Waukesha, died peacefully after a long, courageous battle on Jan. 31, 2016. His final days were spent surrounded by family and friends that Simmon had touched in some way throughout his life. Simmon proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1960 to 1970. He was a staff sergeant during the Vietnam War, where he served two tours of duty, from 1965 to 1968. The discipline and patriotism he learned in the Marine Corps never left him, as friends and family will attest. His family called him, "a walking advertisement" as a Vietnam veteran.

Simmon is survived by his wife, Judith Darty (nee Reif); sons Randy (Jennifer) Darty, Simone Martinez and Samuel Martinez; and by daughters Tammy (Timothy) Hanson and Melissa (Scott) Yette. Simmon is also survived by brother Mike (Lori) Martinez and sisters Amelia Calderon, Ophelia (Stanley) Mindiola, Bonnie (Pedro) Garcia, Mary (Zeke) Mendez and Lupe Miller. He is further survived by grandchildren Natasha Hanson, Hokulani Viriamu, Saraya Martinez, Kikolani Martinez, Kaleo Martinez, Kulia Martinez, Kilauea Yamamota, Nalari N-Richards Ah-Sam and Joke Cuppens; sister-in-law Delia Martinez; 53 nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and -nephews, other relatives and friends. Simmon was preceded in death by parents Simon and Frances (nee Castello) Martinez; brothers Pete, Blaz, David, Jessie and Jose Martinez; and brothers-in-law Bobby Miller and Louie Calderon.
