John W. Humphrey

John W. Humphrey of Oconomowoc passed away on February 7, 2016, at the age of 95 years. John was born June 11, 1920, in Ixonia, to Dan and Alice Humphrey.
He married Myra Maloney on May 14, 1945, at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Okauchee. John owned and ran a dairy and hog farm in Ixonia. John was on the board of directors of the Ixonia Farm Service, the Livestock Breeders Association and 4H leader of the Maple Street Hustlers. He was on the board for Agriculture Soil Conservation of Jefferson County, the 1938 championship team “The Pure Oils,” a member of the Knights of Columbus, a lifetime member of St. Jerome Catholic Church and an usher, and a former sexton for St. Jerome Cemetery. He enjoyed farm life, home cooked meals, polka music and joking around. He loved to fish, hunt, flower gardening and woodworking. He traveled to Australia to see Cheryl (AFS daughter) get married, and traveled to Alaska.
John is survived by his wife, Myra, and his children Joanne (Al) Daly, David (Mary) Humphrey and Ellen (Kit) Deubler. He is further survived by his sisters Frances Richter and Helen Neitzel; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Clare.
Friends may visit on Saturday, February 13, from 10:30 am until time of Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 am, all at St. Jerome Catholic Church, 995 S. Silver Lake St., Oconomowoc, WI 53066.
