Alfred L. Kasprowicz |
Aug. 12, 1927 — Feb. 11, 2016
Alfred L. Kasprowicz, 88, died peacefully in his home surrounded by family members on February 11, 2016. He was born in Wernersville, Pa., on August 12, 1927.
Al graduated from Wernersville High School in 1945. He then entered the Army and is a veteran of World War II. In 1951, Al graduated from Albright College. He received his master’s degree in social work from Case Western Reserve University in 1953. As a social worker, Al worked in Waukesha County and then in Milwaukee in Adoptions for Catholic Social Services. Most of all, Al enjoyed his 30 years at St. Aemelian-Lakeside (now St. A’s), where as executive director, he guided its transformation from an orphanage to a residential treatment center. Many of us will remember Al as a problem solver. If one way would not work, he’d search for another and often find it. He was a man of hope! This quality was reflected in both his personal and professional life. Al was a member of the Golden Kiwanis and of the Community of the Living Spirit.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Diane, and his brother, Ernest.
Surviving him are his loving wife, Mary Ellen “Meg,” to whom he’s been married 62 years; his daughter Heidi (John) O’Connor; son Alfred (Geri) Kasprowicz; son Paul (Sarah) Kasprowicz; and son-in-law James Lyon. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He is further survived by three brothers, Frank, Ray and Bob Kasprowicz, all in the Reading, Pa., area.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 5, from noon to 3:00 pm at the Rotary Building, 1150 Baxter St., Waukesha, WI 53186.
Memorials are suggested to St. Aemelian-Lakeside (St. A’s), the Alzheimer Disease Association, or CLS.
Schramka Funeral Home is serving the family, 414464-4040.
