Gloria S. HartwigGloria Sue Hartwig, 66, passed away on Friday, February 19, 2016, at Theda Clark Medical Center, Neenah, surrounded by her family. She was born in Milwaukee on August 6, 1949, the daughter of the late Joseph and Maria (Analla) Hernandez.

Gloria attended St. Anthony’s Elementary and St. Joan Antida High School in Milwaukee. On September 9, 1972, Gloria married Joel Hartwig at St. Anthony’s, Milwaukee. Together they had two children.

Gloria and Joel raised their family in Parkville, Missouri, for 12 years. Gloria was a stay-at-home mother and found great joy in motherhood. She volunteered at her children’s school and church, St. Therese in Parkville, Missouri. Gloria and Joel later moved to Oconomowoc. Gloria worked at the Waukesha County Sheriff’s Department as a clerk typist for 20 years, retiring in 2013. Gloria enjoyed her family and pets most of all. She found joy in the laughter, smiles, hugs and kisses, of her children, grandchildren and golden retrievers.

Gloria is survived by her husband, Joel; daughter, Joelene (Duane) Raleigh; son, Daniel; two granddaughters, Grace and Emma; two brothers, Joseph Hernandez and Enrique (Yvonne) Hernandez; sister, Laura Hernandez; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

The funeral service for Gloria will be 1:00 PM on Thursday, February 25, at Valley Funeral Home, 2211 N Richmond St., Appleton, with Fr. Thomas J. Farrell of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Appleton, officiating. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday morning beginning at 11:00 AM until the hour of service.

Gloria’s family would like to thank the ICU doctors and nurses at Theda Clark Medical Center, and Dr. Jennifer Schoening at Kaukauna Clinic, for all of their compassionate and loving care of Gloria in her hour of need.
