Maurice ‘Maurie’ Tremaine

Maurice “Maurie” Tremaine of Pewaukee passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, February 22, 2016, at the age of 97 years. He was born in the Town of Oconomowoc, the son of Wayne and Frances Tremaine.

Maurie married the love of his life, Violet Behling, on December 29, 1945. He was a proud United States Army World War II veteran. Maurie worked as a Machinist Supervisor at Alloy Products in Waukesha, for 36 years, then co-owned and operated Toland Springs Campground in the Town of Erin for over 12 years. He was an avid vegetable gardener, and most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Maurie will be sadly missed by his wife of 70 years, Violet; children Diane (Ray) Footland, James (Karen) Tremaine, Larry (Leah) Tremaine, Gene (Coleen) Tremaine and Dawn (Jeff) Baumgartner; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He is further survived by three sisters, other relatives and friends.

Maurie was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers, three sisters and a granddaughter.

A visitation for Maurie will be held on Saturday, February 27,from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the 12:00 noon funeral service at Galilee Lutheran Church, N24-W26430 Crestview Drive, Pewaukee, WI, 53072. Burial will take place privately at Lisbon-Merton Union Cemetery.
