Norman J. Brady
Oct. 2, 1942 ó Feb. 26, 2016
Norman J. Brady, 73, of Waukesha, died on Friday, Feb. 26, 2016. Norm was born Oct. 2, 1942, in Cecil, Pa., a small town just outside of Pittsburgh, to the late Norman and Julia Brady.
Norm had one sibling, a younger sister Kathleen, who still lives in Pittsburgh with her husband and children.
Norm graduated from Canonsburg High School in 1960, served in the Air Force from 1961-1964, and married his wife of 49 years, Janice Dykes on Feb. 11, 1967, in California.
During the first few years of their marriage, Norm and Jan lived in several cities across the U.S. and Canada while Norm was employed by North American Aviation.
In 1970, Norm and Jan permanently settled in southeastern Wisconsin and had moved to the city of Waukesha, by the time their first two children, daughter Kelly and son Brian, were born in 1969 and 1971.
Norm got his B.B.A. degree from the University of Wisconsin- Milwaukee, he was a member of the business fraternity Pi Sigma Epsilon, and worked full time to support his family.
After graduating UWM in 1974, Norm took a job at Durant, which ultimately gave him the opportunity to be introduced to Don Craighead and Donís company Power/Mation Division, where Norm was employed for 40 years (from 1975 until the day he died).
In 1978 and 1985, Norm and Jan had two more sons: Erin and Colin.
In 1984, Norm and Jan worked together to launch two companies, Innovative Automation and The Crossram Connection.
In addition to truly loving what he did for a living and committing most of the waking hours of his adult life to his career, Norm greatly enjoyed spending what little free time he had with his family up at the Bradysí summer home on Lake Winter in northern Wisconsin. One of his favorite relaxing hobbies was fishing, particularly muskie fishing.
The only other thing that Norm enjoyed doing more than working was spending time with his four grandchildren: Brooke, Dempsey, Allison and Emmett.
In fact, he felt incredibly blessed to be able to have all grandchildren by his bedside only a few days before he passed away.
