Shari Ann Cook
Shari Ann Cook passed away on Thursday, March 3, 2016, at the age of 86 in Dousman. Shari was born Shari Ann Mussehl in Fort Atkinson. It was there that she met her best friendís brother (Howard Cook), who went on to become her husband of 68 years.
Shari and Howard moved to Minnesota while Howard finished veterinary school, and then returned to Wisconsin where they settled in Waukesha County and raised their three children. Shari volunteered in the community, and loved to play tennis, golf and bridge. After losing her hearing in her later years, she demonstrated her artistic abilities while painting and quilting, and also became an avid bingo player.
Her greatest joy in life came from spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while summering in Tomahawk. Shari enjoyed playing spoons, and was known as a passionate and fierce competitor. She didnít believe in taking it easy on her competitors (regardless of their age), which often led to laughter (and some tears) from the children.
Shari is survived by her loving husband, Howard; daughter Patricia (Joseph) Schmitt; grandchildren Amy (Cameron Kurth), Elizabeth Berndt, Anthony (Katherine) Schmitt, Katherine (Kyle) Nobui and Lauren; step-grandchildren Josh (Alicia) Williams and Jacob Williams; great-grandchildren Owen Stackhouse, Shaun Schmitt and Henry Schmitt; and step-great-grandchildren Megan, Katelyn and Jayden Williams. She is also survived by her brother Thomas Mussehl; daughter-in-law Patricia Cook; and many other family and friends.
Shari was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Katherine Mussehl; sons Thomas and Steven Cook; grandsons Joey Schmitt and Matt Berndt; and sister-in-law Colleen Zehfus.
Visitation will be held at the Three Pillars Ewald Chapel at 9 a.m. Saturday, March 12, with a service to follow at 10:00 a.m. A private family burial will be held at Lake View Cemetery in Fort Atkinson.
A donation may be made to the American Red Cross or American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers.
