Irene E. Gregesich
Irene E. Gregesich of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Saturday, March
12, 2016, at Riverhills West Health Care Center in Pewaukee at the age
of 90 years. She was born in Irwin Township, Mich., the daughter of
William and Elsa Niemi.
She graduated from Gogebic Community College in Ironwood, Mich. Irene
married the love of her life, George Gregesich, on July 20, 1946. She
was a member of St. William Catholic Church, where she was active with
the Christian Mothers Society.
Irene was a Jack of all trades at the Moreland Grove Apartments: she
organized and operated the pot lucks and Tuesday morning coffee hours.
Irene enjoyed playing bingo and was always there to help others. Most of
all, she loved spending time with her family.
Irene will be lovingly missed by her children, Margaret Niedermann and
William (Jean) Gregesich; grandchildren, Kimberly (Mark) Heidemann,
Steven Gregesich, Michael (Jennifer) Gregesich, William (Michele)
Gregesich, Lisa (Eric) Salo, James (Manivone) Stephanek, Nicholas
Niedermann, Lee Ann (Matt) LeSage and Erika (Ryan) Sieber;
step-grandchildren, Ellen (Dave) Neal and Jonathan (Diana) Fanis,
Michael Heidemann, and Jessica Heidemann; and great-grandchildren,
Lauren, Brooke, Alex, Andrew, Emily, Gabriel, Gavan and Mika.
She is further survived by a brother, William Niemi, and nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Irene was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George; sons John
and George; daughter Mary Stephanek; and sister Alice Bianchi.
A visitation for Irene will be held on Wednesday, March 16, from 3:30
p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N.
Moreland Blvd., Waukesha.
A second visitation will be held on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45
a.m. with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. William
Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. The burial
will immediately follow at Highland Memorial Park.
