Judith F. Wirth

Judith F. Wirth (Smith), of Amberg passed away peacefully on March 7, 2016. She leaves behind her husband, Keith. She was born Sept. 17, 1939, in Oconomowoc to Paul and Martha Smith. Judith graduated from Oconomowoc High School with a great lust for life. She worked at Northwest Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Milwaukee until she had her first child, Patrick Szalanski. A few years later she had a beautiful little girl, Mary Herlache. After chasing her children around for a few years, she returned to the Mirro Aluminum Co. (Wismarq Corp.) in Oconomowoc as a lab inspector and supervisor for 30 years. As Judith’s children grew up she was an active member of the PTA, Cub Scout leader, basket tournament volunteer, and any thing that was needed at St. Bruno’s School in Dousman.
She will be sadly missed by her husband, Keith; her son, Patrick Szalanski (Nancy Mattson); her daughter, Mary Herlache (Gerald Kocken); her grandchildren, Nicole (Andy) Wiedemeier, Justin and Carter Szalanski, and her great-grandchildren, Aliana May and Taylor Lee Wiedemeier. She is also survived by her sister Helen Neumann, many cousins, nieces, nephews and inlaws.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Smith, and her father, Paul Smith; and her siblings, Lucille (Desmond) Laabs, Ruth (Harvey) Eckert, Robert (Lorraine) Smith, Patrick (Marcella) Smith, Rita (Glen) Sjoberg, Rosemarie Popp and her brother-in-law Walter Neumann.
A gathering for family and friends will be held at Breakshots/Huba Huba in Oconomowoc from 1-4 p.m. on Saturday, April 2.
