Paul Mikulak found peace on Thursday morning, March 17, 2016, at the age of 70.
He is survived by his wife, Denise; brothers Mark and Peter; sons David (Katie), Andrew (Shannon) and Matt (Sunshine); and stepchildren Cameron (Ericka) and Spencer Gamble.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty (Oakhill), and two brothers, Timothy and David.
Paul graduated from New Trier High School in Winnetka, Illinois. He attended Muskingum College in New Concord, Ohio, where he graduated with a degree in English. Paul taught high school English at Elgin Academy in Elgin, Illinois, and at University Lake School in Hartland. After leaving the teaching profession, Paul worked in the lumber wholesale and manufacturing industry with positions in sales and operations. He served on Gov. Tommy Thompson’s Council on Forestry.
Paul was an avid reader of classic literature and was especially fond of William Faulkner’s writings. He enjoyed cooking, gardening and watching sporting events.
The family would like to extend its gratitude to all the nurses, doctors and volunteers of AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconomowoc for comforting and caring for Paul during his time at their facility.
A memorial ceremony will be held April 9 at 12:00 p.m. at the Luko-Evert Funeral Home, 170 Warren Ave., Hartland. Friends may call at the funeral home between 10:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. A luncheon will follow at the Flanagan Dorn American Legion Post 294 in Hartland.
