Alma C. Sterr

Alma C. Sterr (nee Hansen) of the Town of Erin (Monches), passed away Sunday, April 10, 2016, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was 89 years old.

She was born May 27, 1926, in Lake Five, to Frank and Anna (nee Stuettgen) Hansen. She married Robert Sterr on September 8, 1945, at St. Columba Catholic Church, Lake Five.

Alma loved playing cards with her grandchildren and going on day trips with her children. She worked on their dairy farm her whole life and enjoyed gardening and growing vegetables as well as flowers. She and Robert especially enjoyed their retirement trips around the United States and Hawaii. She was a lifelong member of St. John Catholic Church in Monches.

She is survived by her loving children, Joan (Dennis) Otto of Ashippun, David (special friend Trish) Sterr of Lake Delton, Betty Arnold of West Bend, Gloria (Dennis) Geniesse of Brookfield, and Diane (Timothy) Cull of Monches; 12 grandchildren, Tammi, Shawn, Samantha, Hollianne, Allen Jr., Neil, Jennifer, Christopher, Caitlyn, Caleb, Connor, and Clarissa; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Theresa Courtney of Pewaukee; brother, Francis Hansen of Hartford; and brother-in-law Ken Bilgo of Jackson. She is further survived by other relatives and many friends.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband, Robert, in 2003; three brothers, Legorious, Jerome (Grace), and LaVerne (Mary) Hansen; and four sisters, Marie (Lawrence) Wolf, Lorraine (Harvey) Hembel, Lucille (Lawrence) Neureuther, and Ann Bilgo; two brothers-inlaw, Walter (Theckla) and Clarence (Elizabeth) Sterr; and two sisters-in-law, Catherine (Wilmer) Roets and Evelyn (John) Weber.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Alma will be held Saturday, April 16, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, W302-N9583 O’Neil Road, Monches, with the Rev. Bill Stanfield officiating. Family will greet relatives and friends on Friday, April 15, at the Shimon Funeral Home, 824 Union St., Hartford, from 4:30 to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 6:45 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:30 until the 11:00 a.m. Mass. Interment will be at St. Kilian Cemetery, Hartford.

Memorials to the American Lung Association or for Masses are appreciated.
