Tammy Kim Smith Tammy Kim Smith, age 55, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family after fighting a courageous battle with several health issues for 15 years. She was born to James Joseph Newkirk II and Sharon Fern Wolfe in Fond du Lac on November 14, 1960.

She married the love of her life, Romaine G. Smith Jr., on April 26, 1986, in Jefferson.

Tammy had a big heart and who would do anything that anyone asked of her.

She loved animals, multiple times taking in wild animals to nurse them back to health and set them free.

She was a proud Cherokee native. She loved going for motorcycle rides with her husband and enjoyed participating in benefit rides for cancer and for American veterans. She was a fighter. She fought her health ailments for years and brought all who knew much love in the time she was here. To Tammy, FAMILY meant the world. They were her number one.

Tammy is survived by her loving husband of 30 years, Romaine; her daughters, Sharon (Alfonso) Garcia- Smith and Sara Smith; her son-in-law, Joel (Laura) Garcia; her grandchildren, Romaine Juan Garcia-Smith, Diamond Newton and Nadia Garcia; her father, James J. Newkirk, II; her step-parents, Eleanor (Ray) Rogness; her siblings, Tina Mitchell; James J. (Linda) Newkirk, III, Danette M. Belcher, Richard (Karin) Newkirk, Greg A. (Kathy) Newkirk, William G. Newkirk, Cynthia J. Hemm, Steven R. (Karen) Smith, Susan K. (Mike) Guyer, Stephanie A. (Bob) Olsen, Christine R. (Jerry) Collins and Donald P. (Rachel) Smith; and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding Tammy in death were her mother, Sharon, and many other relatives.

The family would like to express a great appreciation for the loving care taken of Tammy by the staff at Agrace Hospice, especially Kristie and Shannon, her nurses, and also to Tammy’s wonderful loving daughters, Sharon and Sara, as well as other family members.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, April 15, at 12:00 noon at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Jefferson, with Fr. Tom Coyle officiating. Family and friends may come to the church Friday from 9:00AM until the time of the Mass for visitation. Burial will be at Hoffman Cemetery in Rome.

Memorial contributions in Tammy’s name are asked to be directed to the family to help offset final expenses.
