Roland Frederick Beguhn

Roland Frederick Beguhn left us on April 9, 2016, to spend his eternity in heaven with his Lord after 89 years on this earth.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Georgia, and his son-in-law, Rod Hill.

He is survived by his daughter Roxanne Hill, David (Barbara), and Gary, four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Roland was born in Menomonie, one of three children, preceded in death by two brothers, Donald and Gordon.

Roland will be remembered by his three children as a loving father and teacher. Roland’s two passions were our mother, Georgia, and his vocation as a carpenter. Dad worked as a carpenter for many years and then became the full-time instructor for Waukesha County Technical College for 20-plus years until his retirement in 1992. He always spoke very highly of his students and his love of teaching. He was always proud of his students’ accomplishments after graduation and kept in touch with several of them after his retirement.

After retirement, Roland built his dream house on Tainter Lake in Dunn County, a few miles from where he was born. He and Mom spent many wonderful years splitting their time between Oconomowoc and Menomonie.

After our mother suffered a stroke, Dad was her constant companion for 22 years until her death. He insisted on caring for Mom and after her passing less than six months ago, spoke often that he missed her and looked forward to being with her. They were married for nearly 63 years and were never apart during that time.

The family would like to thank the staff at Lake Country Landing for their loving care of our parents for the past two years. The caregivers were wonderful and Dad always looked forward to teasing the staff by ordering his juice by fractions of an inch each day. Our parents loved the staff and the friends they made there during this time.

Dad, we’ll all miss you very much but know you’re happy now with Mom. You will never be forgotten by the family and friends you’ve left behind. Give Mom a hug and a kiss for us.

Visitation will be held from 12 PM until the time of the funeral service at 2:30 PM on Friday, April 22, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 818 W. Wisconsin Ave., Oconomowoc.

Memorials to the church are appreciated.
