Milton Babinec passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 19, 2016, at the age of 86.
He grew up in Cudahy in a Slovak immigrant family. After attending college at the University of Wisconsin- Whitewater where he earned his Bachelor of Science and masterís in education, he married Jean Jorgenson and moved to the Oconomowoc area. In addition to helping out on the family farm, Milton taught math and science at the junior high schools in Oconomowoc and Okauchee for over 35 years. He loved teaching ó it was his passion. His friends and colleagues knew him as a great story teller and a man with a fun sense of humor.
Milton was a member of the Stone Bank Lions Club for over 50 years and was a dedicated worker at the annual Lion and Firemanís Fourth of July picnic. He also spent many hours working with the Oconomowoc Area Historical Society Museum in the 1990s, along with volunteering at the local hospital. He was a member of Our Saviorís Lutheran Church and a past member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hartland. In more recent years, he sang in the choir and helped out at the church in many ways. He was a dedicated Christian.
He is survived by his children Lori Babinec and Melissa (Jack) Sphatt; grandchildren Jacob and Hannah Sphatt and John Alec Claude; his sister Irene Karklus; nephew Mike Karklus; and dear friend Arlys Sobel.
Milton was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 43 years, Jean Ann (nee Jorgenson); his second wife, Beverly; and a daughter, Jennifer.
Milton was laid to rest on April 23 in the Hartland Upper Annex Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer Association or a charity of donorís choice.
