Scot David Nelson
March 21, 1962 — May 9, 2016
Scot David Nelson, age 54, passed away on Monday, May 9, 2016 at Meriter Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on March 21, 1962, in Milwaukee, the son of David and Alyce Nelson, the oldest of four children. Scot married Donna Wachtendonk on July 22, 2000, in a beautiful ceremony held on Lake Wingra in Madison. Scot was passionate about soccer at all levels. He was actively involved in the Over 40 Soccer Club at Keva, and most recently coached his son’s DeForest Soccer Team. Scot also coached for the Sun Prairie Youth Soccer League for many years.
He was an accomplished chef who knew his way around the kitchen and enjoyed creating sumptuous meals for friends and family. Scot took great pride in working around his house (he loved his 4” grass), and together, he and Donna enjoyed creating a beautiful home. Most of all, Scot enjoyed spending time with his family, Donna and Dane. He will be sadly missed. Scot, a master plumber, was employed by Jensen Plumbing in Lake Mills as a project manager.
Many thanks to Steve and Pat Jensen for continuing to support Scot during his courageous battle with cancer.
Scot is survived by his wife, Donna Nelson, and their son, Dane (14) of Sun Prairie; parents, David and Alyce Nelson of Waukesha; grandmother, Bea Walders of Milwaukee; brothers, Joe (Lisa) of Waukesha and Tony (Shari) of Sheboygan; sister, Lisa of Waukesha; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials services will be held at Gunderson East Funeral Home, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 13. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the time of the service on Friday.
