Lorraine Leona McAdams (nee Dapper)
June 1, 1924 - May 16, 2016

Lorraine Leona McAdams (nee Dapper), a beloved member of the Mukwonago community, was born to eternal life Monday, May 16, 2016, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. Lorraine was 91. She was born in Milwaukee on June 1, 1924, the daughter of Joseph and Phyllis Dapper.

Lorraine was a graduate of Riverside High School. She married John Arthur McAdams on September 27, 1947, and together they had six children. She worked hard alongside her husband to build the family business from McAdams Shoprite into seven Waukesha County area Pick ‘n Saves. She and John donated to countless organizations in the community, including the Mukwonago Community Library and the Mukwonago YMCA.  She was a member of St. James Catholic Church in Mukwonago, the Mukwonago Area Women’s Club, and a 60-year member on the American Legion Auxiliary Post 375.

Lorraine’s children and grandchildren will remember Lorraine for many things. She was kind, generous and loving to all of her family and friends. She was a great cook who always made enough food to “feed an army.”  Every year she loved showing off her well known display of Christmas lights that could have lit up all of Mukwonago. She was known to take as many of her grandchildren as she could fit into her vehicle for weekend sleepovers. She was welcoming to all of those that joined her in her home, whether she knew them for a lifetime or just a few minutes. She loved her family with all her heart and there was nothing more important to her than having everyone together, whether it be for Christmas Eve every year at her home or a last minute fish fry at Sasso’s. Lorraine was a remarkable woman, a true matriarch and she will be truly missed by all of her family and friends.

Lorraine is survived by her loving children, Sharon Burt, Patrick (Kathie), Debbie (daughter-in-law), Terry, Joe (Karen) and Tom (Amy) and her dear sister, Grace Klann.  She is further survived by her 16 loving grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John; son, Michael; son-in-law, David Burt; and sister, Dorothy Strelka.

A visitation gathering will be held from 3:00 PM until 6:00 PM followed by a 6:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, May 25, at St. James Catholic Church, 830 Highway NN East, Mukwonago (Highway NN is under construction, but is open for local traffic to the church).
