Julia M. Thomas of Waukesha died tranquilly at home on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at the age of 90. Julia was born on August 6, 1925, the daughter of W. Harry and Marie Zimmermann. On May 24, 1952, Julia married the love of her life, James Thomas. Together they raised five children on the family farm in Waterville.
Julia worked for many years as a legal secretary, first for a private firm and later at the Waukesha County Courthouse. The farm and family was where she spent most of her time, but she loved to read and travel when she could. She was a caring mother and a friend to many.
Julia will be dearly missed by her children: Judy (Rick) Lieblang, Jean (James) Knuteson, John (Chris Call) Thomas, Jane (Jeff) Heckman and James (Denise) Thomas; grandsons James (Michelle), Shawn (Dawn), Chris (Marcie), Matt and Steve; step-granddaughters, Erin, Lori and Amanda; great-grandsons, Anthony and Dane; and step-great-granddaughters, Carlise, Ellianna, and Rhyder. Julia is further survived by other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, James.
The funeral Mass for Julia will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188.
The visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. and will conclude at 10:45 a.m. Entombment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Waukesha.
