Carol Ann Terry, 67, of Rockford, Ill., passed away on May 28, 2016, in Sharon as a result of an automobile accident. She was born in Bethesda, Md., on July 7, 1948; the daughter of Theodore and Marie (Hall) Cooper. She spent her childhood in Waukesha and attended the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh where she obtained her degree in elementary education.
She married Mark Terry on April 3, 1971, and together they had three daughters. The family moved to Rockford, Ill., where, in 1979, they started a small trucking company, Mark Terry Trucking, Inc., and Carol also worked for the Benning Group.
She was passionate about The Literacy Council of Rockford and volunteered her time in their reading programs. Carol loved catching up with friends, spending time with family, especially her kids and grandkids, and was an avid reader.
Carol is survived by her husband, Mark Terry; daughters, Jennifer (Jay) Goldberg of Algonquin, Ill., Carin (Jason) Mahkovtz of Glendale, Ariz., Stephanie (Krista Jones) Terry of Commercial Point, Ohio; grandchildren Hannah, Luke, and Wyatt Goldberg; and Shane and Claire Mahkovtz; parents, Theodore and Marie Cooper of Waukesha; siblings, Ed (Sue Phipps) Cooper, Gail (Ronny) Sanders, Joyce (Larry) Uglow, and Glenn (Sherri) Cooper; and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. June 18, 2016 in Olson Funeral & Cremation Services, Ltd., Fred C. Olson Chapel, 1001 Second Ave., Rockford, with Pastor Jane Easley officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. — 10:45 a.m. prior to the service in the chapel and Friday, June 17 from 4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the chapel.
