James D. Oster of Waukesha passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at the age of 84.
James was born on May 9, 1932, the son of Carl and Josephine Oster. On Oct. 22, 1955, James married the love of his life, Marilynn.
He was a proud United States Army veteran who served in the Korean conflict. A natural born leader, James held the position of postmaster at the Milwaukee Post Office, regional manager in Green Bay and Madison, and other managerial positions throughout his career in the postal service. James was a longtime, active member at St. William Catholic Church.
He was an avid sports fan, bowler, and umpired for the minor league St. Cloud’s Rox baseball team.
James will be deeply missed by his wife of 60 years, Marilynn; children, David Oster, Shelly Oster, Sheila (Anthony) Feider, Sharon Oster, Steven (Penny) Oster, Sandra (Michael) Jaworski, and Christina Oster; grandchildren, Ryan (Katie) Olson, Justin (Ashley) Feider, Trevor Oster, Lyndsey (Mike) Randall, Maxwell Oster, Nicole Jaworski, and Jesse Oster; great-granddaughter, Skyler; siblings, Charles Oster, Bonnie (Ray) Schaefer, Paul (Judy) Oster, and John Oster; daughter-in-law, Beth Arneson; brother- in-law, Thomas (Diane) Dunn. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
James was preceded in death by his parents; son, Michael James Oster on March 31, 2015; and brother-in-law, Edwin Dunn.
The visitation for James will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the 11:00 a.m. Mass of Christian burial at St. William Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188.
The Rev. Curt Frederick will be officiating. Entombment will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
