Leland Rice of Waukesha passed away Sunday, June 26, 2016, at the age of 89.
Leland was a World War II Army veteran. He was a local cartage truck driver and a member of the Teamsters Union for 40-plus years. Leland enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing, hunting and traveling with his wife, Betty, in their recreational vehicle around the country. He was an avid bowler and golfer.
Lee was very handy with woodworking and home improvement projects. He also made handmade toy trucks and was a model railroader.
Leland was the beloved husband of 54 years to Betty Rice, who preceded him in death in 2006. He was the loving father of Greg (Kathleen), Teri (Glen) Norder, Steve, and David. He was the proud grandfather of Brett (Marcy), Lindsay, Ryan, Steven Jr., Kaitlyn, Olivia, and Seth. He was also a great-grandfather. He was the brother of Joyce Leberman of Mukwonago and brother-in-law of Michael (Donna) Galles. He is also survived by many other family members and friends.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 6, from 12 noon until 1:30 p.m., with a prayer service immediately following at Prairie Home Cemetery Chapel, 605 S. Prairie Ave., Waukesha. Military honors will follow at the graveside. Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, Cremation and Pre-Planning Services is serving the family.
