JoAnne J. Bonahoom

Mrs. JoAnne J. Bonahoom, formerly of Oconomowoc, went to meet our Lord on Holy Thursday, March 24, 2016. She was preceded in passing by her beloved husband, James; her father and mother, George and Mary Baccash; her sister Jeanette, and her brothers Sonny, George and Bill.

JoAnne and Jim moved to Oconomowoc in 1962, where Jim was the director of recreation, along with their children, Julie, Steve and Kevin.

Jamie was born three years later.

Jim passed in 1966, and JoAnne went to work for Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital as an obstetrics nurse. At 45, she went back to school and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, continuing her nursing career into the early 90’s, when she retired after more than two decades of service. In 2008, she moved to an assisted living facility in Mount Ida, Ark., to be closer to her daughter in her later years and where she remained until her passing.

JoAnne was a devoted wife, mother, sister and friend to all those whose lives she touched with her love, compassion and guidance. She had a devoted passion for traveling, the fine arts, movies and theater, and she loved her family and friends beyond measure. She was a true blessing and inspiration to all who knew her, and her shining light will be treasured and missed forever.

She is survived by her loving children, Julie and Dino Kincaid of Mount Ida, Ark., Steve and Roxanne Bonahoom of San Antonio, Texas, Kevin and Julie Bonahoom of Dallas, and Jamie “Jamila” Bonahoom and longtime friend Mohammed Amayen of Los Angeles. She leaves six grandchildren: Sam (Devan), Jared (Ashley) Bonahoom, Cameron, Laura, Michael and Elizabeth Bonahoom along with three great-grandchildren: Isla, Eden and Szen, who will continue to carry her memory in their hearts. Her two daughters, Jamila and Julie, were at her side to help her with this momentous crossing, giving her their love and strength to make this journey home.

A celebration of life gathering is planned for JoAnne from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3, at the home of Pat and Chuck Herro. Please inquire at for more information.
