Edelhard ‘Ed’ Neumann
Nov. 7, 1931 — July 27, 2016

Edelhard “Ed” Neumann, age 84, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2016.

He was currently residing in Jefferson. Born November 7, 1931, he was the son of Edwin and Elsa Neumann of Ashippun.

Edelhard married the love of his life, Carol Vinz, on June 20, 1955. He is survived by his five children: Lon (Donna) Neumann of Greenville, S.C., Bonnie (John) Steele of Grand Junction, Colo., Daniel Neumann of Coon Rapids, Minn., Brenda Neumann of Appleton and Timothy Neumann of Waterloo. He is also survived by his three loving grandsons: Christopher Zimmerman of Edina, Minn., and Nathanael and Isaiah Neumann of Greenville, S.C.

Ed grew up on his family farm outside Ashippun.

Besides a close bond with his father, his beloved Aunt Wieda and Uncle Art Pagenkopf were also influential in his life. As a child, his imagination took flight, captivated by early air shows and crop-dusters sweeping down over the fields which sparked a lifelong love of civil aviation.

As a young man, that passion led to adventures piloting Piper Cub airplanes. He also volunteered with the Air Force Reserves and was proud to be one of the first 500 members of the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA).

Ed was preceded in death by his wife, Carol; father, Edwin; mother, Elsa; sister Aloha; brother Eldred; aunt and uncle, Weida and Arthur Pagenkopf; and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.

Our sincere thanks to administrator Hillary Holman, and ALL staff at Jefferson Memory Care Center, to Jennifer Farmer with Opportunities Inc., and to Tess Rank and Sheri Heyer with Care WI, all of whom demonstrated expertise, respect, and kindness in the care and services they provided.
