Arlene Jane Laura Murphy (nee Laubenheimer) died on Monday August 8, 2016, in Wauwatosa at the Zilber VNA Hospice.
Born August 2, 1929, in Richfield, she graduated from Hartford High School at the age of 16, and later worked from 1954 to 1964 as an accountant at Northwestern National. She met and married (then-Waukesha County District Attorney) Roger P. Murphy.
Arlene is survived by her two sons, Mark (Jennifer) Murphy of Wauwatosa and Thomas (LeAnne) Murphy of St. Cloud, Minn., and six grandsons. Her two nieces, Cindy Savatski and Teri Jacobs, were her best friends and the “daughters she never had.”
Arlene was preceded in death by her mother Delia and father Robert; her sister Marge Deutch; and her two brothers, “Lefty” and “Buddy.”
Arlene will be buried after a private family ceremony in the Laubenheimer Cemetery next to her great-grandfather, Phillip (a founder of Richfield); her husband, Roger P. Murphy; her daughter Margaret Jane Murphy; and her sister Nancy Snyder.
Arlene was an honorary member of the National Republican Party, and of the state and county Republican Party. She was also an honorary member of Waukesha Elks Lodge and was a lifelong member of the United Church of Christ (having sung in the choir for over 30 years).
