Edward A. Retzlaff, age 93, of Waukesha, formerly of Oconomowoc, died Thursday, August 25, 2016, at ManorCare of Pewaukee. Ed was born May 18, 1923, to Edmund and Gustie (Maske) Retzlaff in Herman. On April 15, 1950 he married the love of his life, Martha Lillian Schuett, in Ashippun.
Ed lived most of his life in Monterey. He spent his time following the Brewers, gardening and fishing. He was social man who became the life of the retirement home as he volunteered his duties, delivering popcorn, stuffed animals and crafts to any visiting children and also praying with other residents. He gave to them all and on the day of his passing he was flooded with their love and visits.
Surviving Ed are his children: Edward R. (Deborah) Retzlaff of Anderson, S.C., Cheryl (James) Zsori of Waukesha, Perry Retzlaff of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Gayle (Thomas) Wangerin of North Lake; his 10 grandchildren: Bradly, Bryce, Eric, Scott, Myles, Christian, Nathan, TJ, Elizabeth and Kayla; 10 great-grandchildren; his two sisters, Bernice (Virgil) Metke of Mayville and Mary Zuehlke of Mayville; and other relatives and many good friends.
Preceding him are his parents; his wife, Martha; and 10 siblings.
Funeral services for Ed will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, August 30, at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, W240-N3103 Pewaukee Road, Pewaukee, with the Rev. Dr. Richard Krause officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 1:00 PM until the time of services at the church. Burial will follow at Ashippun Lutheran Cemetery with military honors.
