Oct. 2, 1927 ó Sept. 1, 2016
Carol Paoletti of Waukesha passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 1, 2016, in her home, Avalon Square, at the age of 88. She was the loving mother of Luann (Sheldon) Watkins, Guy (Lori) Paoletti, and Dale (Maggie) Paoletti. She was the proud grandmother of Andrea and Marissa Watkins, and AJ, Natalie, Katie and Bradley Paoletti. She recently welcomed her great-grandchild Aria Paoletti. She is further survived by her sister, Maxine (Dale) Cuculi; brother-in-law, Robert Paoletti; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Don.
Carol was born in Iron Mountain, Mich., on October 2, 1927, the daughter of Emil and Elvira Wifler. She graduated from Channing, Mich., High School in May 1945, completed airline communications school in Minneapolis, and was employed by Capital Airlines for 10 years in Chicago and Grand Rapids, Mich.
She married Don Paoletti, her high school sweetheart, on Christmas Day 1950. In 1957, Don and Carol relocated to Waukesha. After raising their three children, Carol went to work at the YWCA for 16 years. Following retirement, Carol and Don moved to Brookfield Highlands where they became building managers for many years prior to moving to Avalon Square in 2012.
Carol was very active in her community, volunteering her time with Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, Hawthorne Elementary School, and assisting the elderly including Lutheran Brotherhood transportation services. She was a longtime active member of St. Markís Lutheran Church, assisting with Bible school, Sunday school, youth programs, and numerous service groups and activities.
Carol enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, camping, playing cards and reading. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time with her six grandchildren as they grew up.
The family would like to thank the staff of Avalon Square and Seasons Hospice for the care and support they provided. They also wish to extend a special thank you to Carolís personal caregiver, Lori Wollenberg, for her dedication, love and friendship.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 6, from 4:30 to 6:30 pm at St. Markís Evangelical Lutheran Church, 424 Hyde Park Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188. Funeral services will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate contributions in Carolís memory to the Alzheimerís Association of Southeastern Wisconsin, 620 S. 76th St., Suite 160, Milwaukee, WI 53214, or Saint Markís Evangelical Lutheran Church (see address above).
