Shirley M. Kowalski

Shirley M. Kowalski, age 82, of Waukesha, entered eternal rest on September 19, 2016. Shirley was born in rural Waukesha on December 14, 1933, the daughter of Hawley and Emma (nee Greenwald) Bartholomay.
She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1951. She married Daniel Kowalski who preceded her in death on May 27, 2007. Shirley was an active in the community and was a longtime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha and she was a volunteer at the Waukesha Civic Theatre and was most recently a volunteer with The Friends of Prairie Home Cemetery. Shirley was also a “Red Hatter” with the Red Hats in the Sunset, when that organization was active. She loved her family and cared for her great-grandchildren when she was well into her 80s.
Shirley is survived by son Michael (Jill) Kowalski and by granddaughters Krystal (Steven) Pace, Katie Kowalski and Kara (Austin) Kramer. She is further survived by her great-grandchildren Emmery, Daxton, Kaydence and Adella, who were the loves of her life. She also had a special family she loved very much. Shirley was “Oma” to Emily and Rachel Gallo and their parents, Steve and Janet. Shirley was the dear sister-in-law of Jerome (Mary) Kowalski of Milwaukee. Shirley is also survived by many loving cousins, other relatives and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 25, from 2 PM to 4 PM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1052 White Rock Ave., Waukesha, with funeral services at 4 PM. Entombment at Prairie Home Cemetery on Monday will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha or to the National Kidney Foundation, 16655 W. Bluemound Road, Brookfield WI 53005, would be appreciated.
