Douglas Skumatz of Nashotah passed away peacefully in Maryland on October 9, 2016, at the age of 84. He is survived by his wife Betty (Ernstrom) of 54 years, and his sister Maryann (Cary) Kaczik of West Bend. He is also survived by four children, Mark (Chris) of Oconomowoc, Matthew of Florida, Elaine (Wayne) Irwin of Dousman, and Vicky (Joe) Aceto of Maryland. He is also survived by 12 loving grandchildren, Samantha (Josh) Butterfield, Kevin and Michael Irwin, Mackenzie, Zac, Logan and Katherine Skumatz, Grace Aceto, and Rebecca, Casey, Sarah and Ryan Skumatz, and also survived by other family and friends.
He graduated from Boys Tech in 1952. Douglas was active in the Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts for 72 years. He was awarded the honor of Eagle Scout in 1950. Douglas was very active with the Boy Scouts and Cub Pack 169 in Nashotah. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict and was an active member of the American Legion Post 399 in Okauchee. He was active in square dancing and was a member of the Hartland Hoedowners Square Dance Club.
A memorial will be held on Sunday, October 30, at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Delafield, 1600 Genesee St. Visitation is from 4 pm to 5:30 pm, with a service at 5:30 pm and a fellowship reception to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Potawatomi Boy Scout Council of Waukesha, the American Legion Post 399 in Okauchee, or the Boy Scout Troop 169 of Okauchee.
