Clifford George Berlin
Nov. 21,1928 — Oct. 30, 2016
Our cherished husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather, Clifford George Berlin, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2016, surrounded by his family. Clifford was born November 21, 1928 in Milwaukee.
Born and raised in Milwaukee, Clifford truly had a wonderful childhood thanks to his mother Hilda, father George, and siblings Phyllis and Keith. He attended Boys Tech High School and studied to be a draftsman. While still in high school he felt the need to serve his country in support of World War II. With the permission of his parents, he enlisted in the Navy and honorably served in the Pacific as a gunner’s mate aboard the battleship USS Missouri.
After returning from his wartime service, Clifford met the love of his life, Dorothy Wille, at Frieden’s Church in Milwaukee. They married June 15, 1957, and quickly started their family of six children. In 1968, wanting to give their family a suburban life, they moved to Oconomowoc and Clifford began his career with the United States Postal Service. After over 20 years of service, he retired and moved with his wife Dorothy to Pensacola, Fla., in 1998.
After 10 years of enjoying the sunshine, their daughter Jenny and watching their granddaughter Megan grow, Clifford and Dorothy moved back to Wisconsin and shortly thereafter settled in at the Three Pillars retirement facility. Clifford and Dorothy’s love for one another showed evident at the Pillars and the two of them grew popular with their nurses and friends.
Clifford enjoyed his remaining years peacefully with his love of nearly 60 years by his side and family always near. Clifford loved his family above all else, but also enjoyed to travel, hunt, drive fast cars and was very active in church.
His ever-present smile that greeted everyone in his presence, his humble, thankful demeanor and unconditional love never wavered and will always be remembered.
Clifford joined his parents, George and Hilda Berlin, his siblings Phyllis and Keith Berlin, his son Paul Berlin, his grandson Jason Oddsen and his sonin- law Ted Gass in heaven.
Clifford is survived by his wife, Dorothy, and their children: his daughter Carolyn, grandson Joshua (Michelle Oddsen), great-grandsons Brett and Brody, and great-granddaughter Brianna; his daughter Jenny, granddaughter Megan (Chris Thompson), and great-grandson Landon; his daughter Linda and granddaughters Nicole and Naomi; their son David (Theresa Berlin) and granddaughters Cara and Kami; and his daughter Kathy (Jeff Hansing), granddaughter Kelly, and grandson Caleb.
Clifford was blessed with numerous friends and extended family as well who will miss his presence.
Clifford’s memorial service will be held at Three Pillars Ewald Chapel, Village on The Square, 375 Highway 67, Dousman, WI 53118. Visitation with refreshments will begin at 10 am followed by an 11 am memorial service on Monday, November 7.
