Harvey Becker, formerly of Big Bend and currently of Yuma, Ariz., passed away at home at the age of 89 on October 28, 2016. Harvey was born in North Milwaukee on July 27, 1927, to Alice and Gottfried Becker, and leaves his loving wife, Marion, and sons Bruce (Maeve), Donald (Heidi) and Charles (Patricia). He is further survived by grandchildren Kevin (Holly), Elisa and Michael, and great-grandchildren Sophia and Desmond.
He served in the Navy from 1942 to 1944. While living in Big Bend, Harvey served as an assistant Scout leader. He was a charter member of Hoeppner- Horn Bros. VFW Post 5716. Harvey was a charter member and served on the Big Bend-Vernon Volunteer Fire Department for over 35 years. He served on the Big Bend Village Board for a number of years, assisting in the development of the Village Park.
Harvey retired from Alloy Products in Waukesha, where he worked as a machinist for over 30 years. He was a blood donor for many years. In his retirement, he served as a food bank and hospital volunteer in Yuma.
Harvey was preceded in death by his parents; infant son Robert; and son Thomas.
A memorial service by the VFW in New Berlin is being planned for June 4, 2017.
