Vernon Duane Aune |
Vernon Duane Aune was born to eternal life Thursday, December 8, 2016, at age 83. He was born in Hawley, Minnesota, and baptized and confirmed at Lysne Lutheran Church in Hawley.
He graduated from Hitterdahl High School in Hawley in 1951, and served in the U.S. Navy from 1953 to 1957, where he served on the USS Denebola. He graduated from Moorhead State University in 1960. He earned his masterís degree from Ohio State University in 1968. He taught physics and chemistry at New Berlin West High School for 25 years. Vern was an avid birder. He served in many capacities for the BF Goss bird club.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Judith (nee Knurr) Aune; daughter Heather (Jim) Cheslock; son Carter (Jennifer) Aune; grandchildren Gage, Carter Elizabeth, Taylor and Samuel; sister-in-law Venda Aune; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Aune and Jennie (Nelson) Aune; and his brothers and sisters Arnold Aune, Doris (Harvey) Jaeger, Casper (Dorrie) Aune and Jean (Ervin) Christoffer.
Visitation will be at St. Johnís Lutheran Church, 20275 Davidson Road, Brookfield, on Friday, December 16, from 4 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., with a funeral service at 6 p.m. Burial will be Saturday, December 17, at 11:30 a.m. at Rural Home Cemetery, Big Bend. Please meet at the cemetery.
He was a member of St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Brookfield.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to St. Johnís Lutheran Church or the Food Pantry of Waukesha County.
