John ‘Jack’ R. Finley

John “Jack” R. Finley, of Waukesha, passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2016, at the age of 88 years. Jack was born on March 12, 1928, the son of Richard and Genevieve Finley.
He proudly served his country as a member of the 46th Engineer Battalion of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers during the occupation of Japan. On July 18, 1953, Jack married the love of his life, Joan Frederick, and helped raise six sons. Jack was very active in his community and participated in numerous volunteer activities including Meals on Wheels, the Tyme-Out Youth Center, the Fluid Power Research Committee, the Commemorative Air Force of Waukesha, and the Waukesha County Courthouse. He was also a longtime and active member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Jack will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Joan; children, Michael (Susan) Finley, James (Sandra) Finley, Daniel (Jenifer) Finley, Gerald (Margaret) Finley, Thomas (Amy) Finley and Paul Finley; 14 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a brother, Paul (Glenda) Finley. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Ian Richard Finley; brothers and a sister.
The visitation for Jack will be held on Thursday, January 5, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 7:00 p.m. vigil service at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, January 6, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. Burial will immediately follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
