‘Doug’ V. Nelson
“Doug” V. Nelson, of Waukesha, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Dec. 31, 2016, at Heritage Court at the age of 80.
Doug was born on Aug. 5, 1936 in Willmar, Minn., the son of Valdemar and Gertrude Nelson. He began his career as a maintenance machinist at Murphy Diesel and then apprenticed at Harnischfeger. In 1965, Doug began working for A.O. Smith as a journeyman machinist, and he retired in 1998. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, Experimental Aircraft Association, and Divine Shepherd Lutheran Church.
Doug will be missed by his children, David Nelson of Marinette and William (Annie) Nelson of Waukesha; grandchildren, Mollie, Josiah, and Matthias Nelson; sister, Joyce Stoll of Big Bend; nephew, Howard Stoll; and niece, Laura Gatzow. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his son Stephen.
The visitation for Doug will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the 7:00 p.m. memorial service at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, WI 53188.
