WAUKESHA

Lucille Mary Pettey
Oct. 10, 1917 — Jan. 6, 2017

Lucille Mary Pettey of Waukesha entered into eternal life on Friday, January 6, 2017, at LindenGrove in Waukesha at the ripe old age of 99 years. She was born in Chilton on October 10, 1917, the daughter of David and Mary Ellen (nee Gillespie) Meier.

Lucille was a woman of tremendous courage and personal fortitude. She lost her first husband, Harold E. Golemgeske, when her children, Jean and Michael, were quite young and entered the workforce at a time when women in the professional sphere were hardly commonplace. She served as the secretary to the mayor and city attorney of Waukesha for many years. On February 15, 1974, she married Deacon Lawrence “Larry” Pettey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church and both were residents of LindenGrove at the time of her passing. She and Larry were charter members of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and Lucille found tremendous comfort and strength in her faith throughout her life. In addition, she loved dancing, swimming, reading, big band era music, a good joke and butter pecan ice cream.

Lucille will be sadly missed by her devoted and loving husband, Larry of Waukesha; her daughter Jean (Harry) Monahan of Vienna, Va.; her stepson Richard (Deborah) Pettey of Largo, Fla.; and her daughter-in-law Barbara Golemgeske of Madison.

In addition, she is survived by her four grandchildren, David, Sara, Julianna and Grace; her great-grandchild, Cooper; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Golemgeske; her first husband, Harold E.Golemgeske; and her brothers Carl, David and Jim.

A memorial Mass at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waukesha will be held in the spring. Interment will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
