Audrey A. Stahl
Oct. 4, 1929 — Jan. 8, 2017

Audrey Amelia Stahl was born Oct. 4, 1929, and passed away Jan. 8, 2017. Audrey was surrounded by her family when she was called home to be with the Lord. She even had her very special friend, Benji, her dog.

As she said to her granddaughter, “I’m going to go be with my honey, and we’re going to be dancing.” She loved everyone so very much. Even in her last hours, she would say, “I’m going to miss you so much, I love you.” Even with the little strength that she had, she made sure to say how much she “love the doctors so much, they are all so nice.” At this time, the “doctors” were all the nurses, CNAs, R.T., and hospitalist who were all caring for her.

I want to take this time to personally thank all the staff at Watertown Hospital, from the ER to the Medrg Unit, especially the nurses and CNAs on the unit, they all went above and beyond to make my mother comfortable, and to make the family comfortable as well. Thank you so much.

She is survived by her children David (Diane), Debra Donner (Jim) and Michael (AnnMarie), and sisters Grace Anton and Nancy Prout. She is further survived by 16 grandchildren, 19 1/2 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She was visited often by a very special friend named Alice of whom she adored. In her last few months when her health required extra help, the Lord sent her a special angel — Michele R.M. Audrey loved her to pieces and would anxiously await for the days she would come! Yes, Michele spoiled her by bringing her fresh salads, strawberries, Butterfingers, and her all time favorites — Cheetos, spinach dip and chips!!!

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert E.; son Robert “Jeff”; grandsons Jeffrey J., and James R. Donner; sister Patricia; brothers Robert, Howard, and Jimmy; longtime friend Delores Hill; her parents; and other family and friends.

My mother wanted to say a special, love-filled “thank you” to all of her family that sacrificed themselves, their time, and their love to care for her these past nine years, especially the past two. She appreciated every little thing from everyone. She also had a special daughter of a niece, that she truly adored as well. She loved her for her beautiful smile, her abundant love, and for her coming out to visit her, and help prepare the apartment for when she came home from the hospital. She missed you.

A celebration of her life is being planned later in February. Family will announce details at a later date.
