PORTLAND, ORE. Thomas M. James June 16, 1956 — Jan. 14, 2017 Thomas M. James died unexpectedly in his home in Portland, Ore. Born and raised in Waukesha, Tom moved to Oregon to pursue a degree in engineering. He began his career as an estimator and project manager on several projects including the Tom McCall Waterfront Park in Portland. He was president of TMJ Consulting at the time of his passing. Tom also taught local spin classes and was an avid hiker, having completed the entire Pacific Crest Trail in 2016. Tom will be remembered as a man who loved fiercely and gave selflessly. He epitomized boundless curiosity of what lies ahead, no regrets, no fear. He is survived by his daughter, Sarah James; parents, Robert and Barbara James; siblings Robert (Rosemary) James, Kathy (Jim Salazar) James and Joe James; nephews Mike (Bethany) Whalen, Dan (Nikki Hill) Whalen and Landon James; great-nephews-and-nieces Nathan, Madyson, Emma and Brandon; along with many friends and relatives. He will be deeply missed by Nancy James, Patricia Hastings, and Jeff and Kathy Bennett. A memorial service will be held Friday, Jan. 27, 2017, at Fox River Christian Church in Waukesha. Friends and family are welcome to arrive at 5 p.m. with a remembrance service beginning at 6 p.m. The family would prefer in lieu of flowers a donation to the Pacific Crest Trail Association, www.pcta.org.
