Roger “Rog” Alan Kanters, 53, of Jackson, passed away peacefully with family by his side Thursday, Jan. 19, 2017, in Port Washington.
Roger was born in Waukesha to John and Virginia Kanters on March 23, 1963. He went to high school at Kettle Moraine High School in Wales, where he competed in high school track, and graduated in 1981. He attended UWOshkosh. Rog worked as a machine operator and maintenance mechanic for Quad/Graphics for 20 years.
Rog is survived by Cheryl Swenarski, his loving partner and friend of over seven years; his children, Brian Kanters of Waupun and Rachel Kanters; and his granddaughter, Zarah Kanters, of Iron Ridge. He is further survived by brothers Dave (Donna) Kanters of Port Angeles, Wash., and Steve Kanters of Sequim, Wash.; sisters Janine (Jim) Voruz of Omaha, Neb., and Judy (Robin) Thomas of Waukesha; and ex-wife and friend, Jessica Kanters of Iron Ridge. Also surviving are aunts, an uncle, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Cheryl will miss Rog’s funny, loving, and caring ways. Rog enjoyed working on vehicles with his friends. He loved model railroading and fishing. He loved the Pacific Northwest where his brothers lived and had dreams of visiting one last time. Rog is remembered for his willingness to help people and engage in a stimulating conversation, and his good sense of humor. Rog wanted his children to remember he “dearly loved them.”
Roger was preceded in death by his parents, John and Virginia Kanters; niece, Marissa Kanters; and nephew, Nathan Thomas.
There will be no services.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center for their care and compassion during Rog’s stay there and Heartland Hospice for the compassion and dignity they showed Rog in his final days.
