Joan L. Mallow, age 79, of Ashippun, passed away on Sunday, February 12, 2017, at AngelsGrace Hospice Care in Oconomowoc, having been surrounded by the love of family and friends prior to her passing peacefully in her sleep.

Joan Louise Sommerfeld was born on November 4, 1937, in Watertown, the daughter of Ray and Esther (nee Bast) Sommerfeld. She graduated from Watertown High School in 1955. She went on to become a secretary at Brandtís of Watertown. She married Ronald Mallow on April 24, 1960, at St. Johnís Lutheran Church in Watertown. They moved to the dairy farm, where she became a farmerís wife.

Joan was a dedicated community member and loved to volunteer her time where she could. She also had a strong faith that kept her busy within her church, including that of Altar Guild and Ladies Aid. Her friendships were precious for which there were many. She enjoyed being with them whenever she could, whether that was through the Fireside Club or playing cards with the many groups she belonged to. She loved spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

Joan is survived by her son, Gregory Mallow of Ashippun; daughter, Beth (Dave) Schmitz of Fort Atkinson; grandchildren, Mikala and Austin Schmitz; sister-in-law, LaVerne Krueger of Oconomowoc; along with many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother-in-law, Kenneth Krueger.

If desired, memorials are suggested to St. Johnís Lutheran Building Fund in Ashippun or to a charity of oneís choice.

The family would like to thank the Rev. Gary Tillmann and AngelsGrace Hospice for the care, support and concern for Joan and the family during this difficult time, but most especially to all of our friends and family who made Joanís last days special with prayer and support that was abounding with love.
