Leonard R. ‘Len’ Hedtcke
Leonard R. Hedtcke, a lifelong Waukesha resident, passed away Feb. 20, 2017, at the age of 83 years. He was born August 3, 1933, in Waukesha, the son of Robert and Laura (nee Mauel) Hedtcke.
Len was a graduate of Waukesha High School and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran. After returning to Waukesha following his service in the Air Force, Len married Jean Mueller on August 3, 1963 at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha. Len was a lifetime member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Waukesha and was a retiree from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation. Len and Jean shared their love of dancing as members of the Waukesha Spring City Squares.
Len was the beloved husband of the late Jean Hedtcke, who passed away December 22, 2009.
Len is survived by daughter Connie (James) Hanek of Waukesha and son Steve Hedtcke of Waukesha. Len is also survived by his grandchildren, Kelly (Scott) Olson, Christopher, Morgan, Carol and Jamie; his great-grandchildren, Landon, Evan, Ryan and Brennan; sisters Doris Pundsack and Shirley Vogt; and by other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean; brothers John, Fred, Robert and Eugene; and sister Mary Jane.
Visitation for Len will be held on Friday, February 24, from 11 AM to 1 PM at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1052 White Rock Ave., Waukesha, with a funeral service at 1 PM. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery, with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to the UW Cancer Center in Pewaukee or to AngelsGrace Hospice in Oconowowoc would be appreciated.
