The family of Dr. John Buhl would like to announce he will no longer be accepting new patients.

He made one last house call on Sunday, March 5, 2017, at the age of 96 years and decided to stay. We would appreciate your prayers as John begins his life anew.

He was born on April 25, 1920, in Breckenridge, Minn., the son of Thomas and Theresa (nee Koll) Buhl. John was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, where he was involved in the Catholic Study Group. He was a proud United States World War II Army veteran; he fought in the Battle of Anzio, Italy and landed at Anzio Beach and was a medic in the 56th Evacuation Battalion Hospital.

John was a member of the American Legion, St. Mary’s, Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Waukesha Serra Club. He volunteered at the St. Joseph Medical Clinic and the Salvation Army. John and Mabel loved to travel and their travels took them to many places in Europe and Ireland.

They also went to St. Lucia on medical missions to help the people of that country.

John will be sadly missed by his children, Mary (Al Pells) Casey of the Town of Genesee, Kevin (Michelle) Buhl of South Dakota, Dennis Buhl of Waukesha and Elizabeth "Edie" Hoeft of Waukesha, Jim Sullivan of Waukesha and Kathy Vandenberg of Waukesha; his grandchildren, Colin McNally, Lillian Casey, John Paul Casey, Michelle Hoeft, Danny Hoeft, Ann "Kate" Vandenberg, Julie (Treg) Peyton, Megan Buhl and Sarah (Tyler) Klott; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Vandenberg, Sophia Peyton, Quentin, Brody, Kelvin McNally and Sloane Klott. He is further survived by his brother, Paul Buhl; brother-in-law, Bernard Barribeau; Linda Buhl and Anne McNally; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
