John was a member of the American Legion, St. Mary’s, Society of St. Vincent de Paul and the Waukesha Serra Club. He volunteered at the St. Joseph Medical Clinic and the Salvation Army. John and Mabel loved to travel and their travels took them to many places in Europe and Ireland.

They also went to St. Lucia on medical missions to help the people of that country.

John will be sadly missed by his children, Mary (Al Pells) Casey of the Town of Genesee, Kevin (Michelle) Buhl of South Dakota, Dennis Buhl of Waukesha and Elizabeth "Edie" Hoeft of Waukesha, Jim Sullivan of Waukesha and Kathy Vandenberg of Waukesha; his grandchildren, Colin McNally, Lillian Casey, John Paul Casey, Michelle Hoeft, Danny Hoeft, Ann "Kate" Vandenberg, Julie (Treg) Peyton, Megan Buhl and Sarah (Tyler) Klott; and great-grandchildren, Taylor Vandenberg, Sophia Peyton, Quentin, Brody, Kelvin McNally and Sloane Klott.
