Mary E. LaFrattaMary E. LaFratta of Waukesha, formerly of Port Washington, N.Y., passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at home surrounded by her loving family, at the age of 92. Mary was born on October 10, 1924, in Springbrook, the daughter of Tony and Letha (nee Books) Lyons. She graduated from Waukesha High School in 1943. Mary worked in the offices of Borden’s Company and Kensington Mortgage, and as a cashier at K-Mart.

She was involved with the Knights of Columbus, her knitting group, and was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mary enjoyed knitting, music, reading, and the culinary arts. She had a talent for pie making, a strong work ethic, and was devoted to her grandchildren.

Mary will be deeply missed by her children, Kathleen (Frank) Pedone and James (Maureen) LaFratta; grandchildren, Andrea Pedone, Danielle Pedone, Roberto Pedone, and Natasha (Michael) Pedone-Kahle; beloved great-grandchildren, Tyler and Anthony Kahle, whom she loved dearly. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, and friends. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony James LaFratta, in 1977.

A gathering to celebrate Mary’s life will take place on Sunday, March 26, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha. A private service will be held on Monday, March 27, with the burial immediately following at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciated to the Adaptive Community Approach Program (ACAP), 121 Wisconsin Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186; or to the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS), 701 Northview Road, Waukesha, WI 53188.
