Wayne Milton Scheppele departed this world to be with the Lord on March 15, 2017. He was born August 12, 1927, to Milton Louis Scheppele and Sylvia Mae Opel in Dubuque, Iowa.
He graduated from high school in May 1945 and enlisted to the U.S. Navy at the age of 17, where he served until the end of World War II. He graduated from the University of Dubuque in June 1950 with a Bachelor of Science degree with teaching credentials. He taught physical education, English and speech at both Dubuque and Garnavillo, Iowa, high schools.
Wayne was born into the family of God on January 5, 1947, when he saw that he was a sinner and that Christ died to redeem sinners.
Wayne married Gladys Ivanelle Kregel on August 14, 1948. They settled on the Kregel family farm in Iowa and had eight children: James Arthur, Bonnie Lee, Jerry Wayne, Dan Paul, Mark Bruce, Diane Sylvia, Steven Scott and Wayne Michael. Wayne and Gladys took in, loved and cared for many— some became part of the family such as Earl Hansen and Ingrid Simm. In 1978, he went to work as a writer/editor at John Deere and worked there until retirement (10 years).
