Joel Hoeppner, 80, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017, at Tidewell Hospice House in Englewood, Fla.
Joel was born April 12, 1936, in Brookfield to Joseph and Lillian Hoeppner. He grew up in Waukesha and attended Waukesha schools.
On June 21, 1958, he married Karen Krueger, who survives him. He is also survived by his children, Julie (Gary) Lute of North Port, Fla.; Jim (Marsha Wendt) Hoeppner of Madison; Kathe (Geoff) Gentile of Cape Coral, Fla.; and grandchildren Lindsay (Chris) Neeley, Kendra Cooley, Maddie Hoeppner, Haley, Casey and Hank Gentile, Justin Mickelsen; and great-grandchildren Alexis and Tristen Neeley. He is further survived by his brother, Jerry Hoeppner, and sister, Judy Brackin, as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
He was employed by the state of Wisconsin for over 20 years, then moved to Florida, where he was employed by Manatee County. He retired in 2003, and he and his wife moved to LaCasa in North Port, Fla.
Joel loved fishing and was known as the LaCasa Fisherman, loved Tampa Bay Rays baseball, and Green Bay Packers and Florida State Seminoles football.
He was a wonderful man and will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He absolutely adored his wife, children and grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held in Wisconsin at a future date.
