Kent Robert Koenig
Kent Robert Koenig, 81, died Sunday, April 9, 2017 at Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center.
He was preceded in death by his wife Annette Bader Koenig and is survived by many loving family members, including his sons, Karl and George, along with two daughters, Liesl Nelson and Karen Schubert.
Kent was born April 14, 1935 in Milwaukee. He proudly attended Catholic Memorial High School following St. Joseph’s Grade School. During high school, he worked in a newspaper composing room, a service station and bowling alley. This helped him purchase his first car and pay his college tuition.
He graduated from Carroll College and then worked at Wisconsin Centrifugal as production manager. At the age of 31 he
Annie and had four children— two boys and two girls. The family went on regular vacations to ski, fish, waterski and made several visits to Florida’s beaches.
Kent had a well-known passion for auto racing. He moved to Elkhart Lake from Nevada in 2013 and worked at Road America part time until the fall of 2015.
He will be dearly missed by family and friends. A funeral Mass in his honor will be held at St. Mary’s Church, 225 S. Hartwell Ave., Waukesha, on Thursday, April 20. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m., with a Mass at 11 a.m. followed by a luncheon in the church fellowship hall.
