Carol June Johnson
Carol June Johnson of La Crosse, formerly of Waukesha, passed away at age 86 on Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Bethany Riverside where she was a resident for the last five years. Carol was born in Waukesha on August 5, 1930, to Charles and Sophia Panawash.
She was a long time resident of Waukesha. She and her loving husband Chester "Red" Johnson moved to La Crosse after Chet retired. Carol will always be remembered by endless coloring skills, her gentle spirit, kindness and her endless generosity. Family was the most important thing to Carol. At any family event was when Carol was her happiest.
Carol was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Sophie, and siblings Margret, Donald, Edward Panawash and Jacque Hill. Her soul mate of 62 years, Chet, passed away June 14, 2012.
Carol was a proud mother and is survived by her three daughters, Sandy Pardoe (son-in-law Bill), Bonnie Aldrich and Vicki Steuernagel. She was the grandmother of Scott Kirsch, Brian Danning (Emma Malley) and Cody Steuernagel and great-grandmother of Brynlee Danning. She is further survived by her brother Jerry and two sisters-in-law, Karen and Mary Panawash. Carol was loved and will be remembered by many cousins, nieces, nephews and many dear friends.
A memorial service will be held in her honor at Salem United Methodist Church, 541 Highway 59, Waukesha, on Monday, May 22. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a service to follow at 10:45 a.m. A lunch will be served following the service at the church.
