Janet KelleyJanet "Nana" Kelley of Henderson, Nev., passed away peacefully in Santa Rosa, Calif., on May 18, 2017. She was the daughter of Clement "Ted" Counsell and Carolyn "Roxy" Counsell (both deceased), born in Oconomowoc on September 13, 1936.

She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Oak (CA) and Connie Oak Patton (Joel) (GA); her three grandchildren, Rachel and William Peyton Schoeffler (CA) and Lauren Hess (Brian) (WI); and two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Brinley.

She went to Oconomowoc High and graduated in the Class of ’54 from Marywood in Evanston, Ill. She was written up as "cheerful, amicable, envied for her sewing skills and one in a million" by her high school annual.

She began her college career at Southern Florida University, attended Mount Mary and Carroll College and then graduated from UW-Whitewater with a Bachelor of Science in elementary education. She enjoyed teaching at St. Jerome’s School in Oconomowoc, Swallow School in Hartland, Hartland Elementary and St. Anthony’s in Pewaukee. She was a principal/partner of The Oconomowoc Company Real Estate, Inc. and specialized in selling luxury development properties (i.e. Pine Terrace, The Grove, Dover Bay) and lake homes. She retired in 1995 in Marco Island, Fla. Starting in 1997, she lived in Palm Desert, Calif., and spent 2004 until the present in Henderson, Nev.

Janet was certainly one in a million, an avid water skier who performed in local water ski shows where she was a jumper and pyramid acrobat. She was a wonderful cook, had a great sense of humor, loved a good bet and good friends and family.

Donations in Janet’s honor may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in lieu of flowers.

Services to be announced at a later date in the summer in Oconomowoc.

She will be buried at St. Jerome’s Cemetary in Oconomowoc.
