Mary Jean JacobsenMary Jean Jacobsen, 69, of Watertown, formerly of Waukesha, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2017, at her home from complications of cancer.

Mary Jean Trost was born on November 23, 1947, in Milwaukee, the daughter of Bill and Mildred (nee Halter) Trost. She married David Jacobsen on August 19, 1972, in Milwaukee. After graduating from Milwaukee Lutheran High School, Mary Jean worked in the area of advertising and graphic arts for many years, especially in production and sales. She often worked with Carl Ruppert, a well-known artist and designer in the Milwaukee area.

Mary Jean loved working outdoors, tending to her flower beds and even cutting the lawn. She learned to love gardening from her father. The neighbors enjoyed her beautiful flowers, especially her irises. Her best friend in the years after Davidís death was her dog, Lucky. He was her loyal companion and always stayed by her side, whether she was going for a walk, shopping or watching TV at night, Lucky was there watching over her.

She is survived by her son, Bill (Bobbie Jo) Jacobsen and grandson, David Jacobsen, both of Marinette; sister, Judie (Dick) Fjellman of Dubuque, Iowa; nephews, John (Kris) Fjellman, and their children, Ella and Derek Fjellman, all of Waukesha; Keith (Lori) Fjellman, their children, Sean and Sarah Fjellman, all of Des Moines; sister-in-law, Carol Jacobsen of St. Paul, Minn.; as well as many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

A special thank you to Jan Turke, who helped Mary Jean through her long and courageous battle with cancer, to Dr. Rafftery and to Rainbow Hospice.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 1, at 4 p.m. at the Hafemeister Funeral Home, 611 E. Main St., Watertown, with the Rev. David Groth of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church of Watertown officiating.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 3 p.m. until the time of the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Watertown Humane Society, Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Rainbow Hospice or to the charity of oneís choice in Mary Jeanís name.
