WAUKESHA

Larry A. Arnson

Larry A. ArnsonLarry A. Arnson of Waukesha passed away on Sunday, June 18, 2017, at the age of 85.

Larry lived a very interesting and remarkable life. As a young boy, Larry created a generator from a small creek flowing through the farm to make electricity to light the house and barn before electricity was available in the area, he turned his bicycle into a motorcycle before he could drive, read books and did his school work while perched high up in a tall white pine tree, and was a contributing member to the greatest deer hunting family in the area ó well known for always getting the "big buck."

Larry took his childhood sweetheart as his bride while proudly serving in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, raised a family of four boys, worked a 44-year career as an electrician and head tester of Waukesha Motors turbines and engines, built his own house, became a longtime member of St Lukeís Lutheran Church where he was an usher, a founding member of "The Amigos," and did the setup for the "Needle and Thimble"

quilting group for the church. Larry also served on the school board and as a volunteer fireman for the Town of Waukesha. As a longtime season ticket holder for the Green Bay Packers, Larry was invited by the team to spend a weekend where he got to know every member of coach Vince Lombardiís 1967 Super Bowl team. Larry was a genius with cars, able to fix each and every car challenge his four sons, or others, would bring to his attention.

Larry will be deeply missed by his devoted wife of 65 years, Gloria (nee Cook); sons Jeffery (Jill), Mark (Jeanne) and Kehl (Christine); daughter-in-law Carol; grandchildren Ariel, Kiera, Joseph, Ellen (Bradly) Anderson, Mark ll (Rhiannon) and Matthew; great-granddaughter Everly Anderson; step-grandchildren, Marcy (Shane) Potenberg and Paul (Angel) Coopman; and nine step-great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister Kathleen (Richard) Knudson, and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Elsie Arnson; son Daniel; grandson David; siblings Paul (Mo) Arnson, Audrey (Bob) Madsen, Tom (Jill) Arnson and Mary Ellen (Dalyn) Souhrada; and mother- and father-in-law, Naomi and Theron Cook.
