Delphine Estelle Poeppel

Delphine Estelle Poeppel passed away June 28, 2017. She was born June 13, 1924, in Norton Virginia in the Appalachian Mountains.

Delphine is survived by daughters Aggie (Greg Jr.) Corcoran and Madeline (David) Siverling, and by grandchildren Darren (Andrea) Siverling, Lisa (Archie) Arroyo and Greg III (Jordan) Corcoran. She is further survived by great-grandchildren Michael Siverling, Emmie (Christian) Brooks, Amanda Arroyo and Ben Arroyo, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond, in 1977; son Douglas in 2008; and her parents, Edward and Martha Scarbrough.

Delphine came to New York City at the age of 16 to live with her sister. She then traveled to Waukesha to live with an aunt and uncle. She attended Waukesha High School. She worked for the telephone company from 1942 to 1944. She met Ray on a blind date and they married in 1944. Ray and Delphine purchased a 10-acre hobby farm in New Berlin. Delphine was busy as a stay-at-home mom. Ray and Delphine had a variety of animals, a horse, a pony, pigs, chickens and a lamb. In 1964, she started working in central supply at Lutheran Hospital in Milwaukee.

When Froedtert Hospital opened, she took the opportunity to work in the Froedtert central services. After retirement, she enjoyed her membership in a Red Hatter’s group. Delphine loved traveling and her cats.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 1, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Church and Chapel Funeral Home, 380 Bluemound Road (at highways J and JJ, four blocks south of Interstate 94), Waukesha, with funeral services at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at Prairie Home Cemetery.

The family extends a thank you and deep appreciation to Care-Age of Brookfield, and to Allay Hospice and to Jill and the entire staff for the love and care given to Delphine.
