Elinor Callahan Turner

Elinor Callahan Turner (née Callahan) 86 of Hartland passed away at home on July 4, 2017. She resided with her daughter, Kathy Jacques and her family. Ellen, born Jan. 1, 1931 in Chicago, was the daughter of Elinor (née Van Dyke) and Elliot Callahan. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Tom, Dave and Doug Callahan; and her grandson, Cal Turner.
Survivors include her children, Ellen Maxon and Jane Ralph, Ric Turner, Bruce Turner, Jim and Cheryl Turner, Doug Turner, Mary and Jeff Knudtson, Kathy and Jay Jacques, 15 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was a loving mother to seven children.
Ellen spent her childhood in Louisville, Ky., and Fox Point. She was active in high school sports with field hockey being her favorite, and was known to be a good athlete. Her fondest childhood recollections were her summers spent at Camp Nagawicka in Delafield. She graduated from Downer High School in Milwaukee and Garland College in Boston, Mass., where she met her future husband, Walt Turner. They were married for 24 years.
Ellen loved all dogs and enjoyed playing bridge with friends. She was a resident of the Lake Country area since 1962.
Ellen’s family would like to thank the loving nurses who blessed and cared for her this past year.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at Lake Country Lutheran School, 401 Campus Drive, Hartland, followed by a reception with desserts and coffee. Private inurnment at Hartland Village Cemetery.
