Dorothy KnurrDorothy Louise Knurr (nee Eckel) of Waukesha entered her heavenly home on Tuesday, July 4, 2017, at the age of 87. Born on August 10, 1929, the daughter of Henry and Minnie Eckel, Dorothy has lived a full and blessed life with her husband, Lyle (Feb. 4, 1924 — May 22, 2012), children and grandchildren.

Dorothy will be deeply missed by her children, Ellen (Jack) Spielman, Donald (Debbie) Knurr, Linda (Richard) Kraemer and Michael (Sally) Knurr; grandchildren, Carrie (Derek) Worrall, Sarah (Bob) Schrickel, Laura (ChaezLe) Coley, Josh, Rebecca, Heidi (Mike) Brody, Mark, Beth, Karlee and Kody; and eight great-grandchildren. She is further survived by brother Henry (Carol) Eckel; sisters Ruth Peters and Kathy Wendt; and other relatives and friends.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Lyle.

Dorothy was a very loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She taught first grade at Whittier Elementary in Waukesha for 24 years. In retirement, she was an avid gardener, quilter, sewer, doll and bear-maker, baker and cook.

Dorothy, first and foremost, lived her life for Christ. She had been an active member of Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church since the mid-1950s. Her passion and love for the Lord shone brightly through her commitment to starting a Beautiful Savior school library, sewing quilts for the needy, and putting others before herself.

The visitation for Dorothy will be held on Monday, July 10, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the 11:30 a.m. funeral service at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 S. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186. Burial will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Tess Corners at 3 p.m.
